ARE YOUR TOURNAMENTS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?
YES. All Maryland Cornhole events are always open to the public.
DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER TO PLAY IN YOUR EVENTS?
NO.
HOW CAN I COMPETE WHEN PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS ATTEND YOUR EVENTS?
All events contain an Event Type classification. Events labeled as "SOCIAL" are designed for the amateur, "backyard" player while events labeled as "COMPETITIVE" are designed for professional players. Some events begin with all participants and then break out teams into competitive and social brackets with separate prize structures for each class.
HOW DO YOUR PRIZE PAYOUTS WORK?
For standard (non-charity) events Maryland Cornhole pays between 70%-80% of the entry fees back to the players while keeping 20%-30% as our management fee for coordinating, advertising and running the event. It is a standard industry practice for the Cornhole company to collect this management fee, but Maryland Cornhole far and away pays the highest percentage in the industry back to its players. By comparison, most major Cornhole companies keep between 60%-80% of the entry fees while only paying their players 20%-40%. For charity events we typically pay 50% of the entry fees to the players, so that the additional 20%-30% can directly benefit the charity. Maryland Cornhole will always identify a charity event on its website.
WHAT IS A RANDOM DRAW TOURNAMENT?
Random draw tournaments are a format by which individual players are paired together randomly to form a team.
WHAT IS A SIX MAN TOURNAMENT?
A six man tournament consists of teams of six players who are split into three (two person) pairs that rotate each round of play. Each team plays three matches during each round, amassing an overall win/loss record as a team. At the end of a set number of rounds (e.g., 8 rounds) a designated number of teams advance to the playoffs whereby a team must then win 2 of their 3 matches each round to move through the playoff brackets until one team remains.
WHAT IS A FIVE MAN TOURNAMENT?
Similar to the six man tournament, a five man tournament has rotating doubles pairs and a single player. Play changes each round so that all players participate in at least one singles match. The format also follows the round-robin style of play and ends with a knockout phase playoff bracket.
CAN I USE A CREDIT CARD TO PAY FOR MY ENTRY FEE?
No, for entry fees we prefer to take paypal, venmo, zelle and cashapp
